Writers are observers by nature. We write by paying attention to the world, taking from experience and giving back with ink and soul.
It doesn’t take much to spark an idea, to coin a verse or pen a bit of prose.
Such is the churning mind of a writer that we can see words in everything around us — from a shop passed on the street to a conversation overheard at a local coffee shop — any and all encounters containing the potential to lead us to new words to write.
Thus it is for us to observe both the world around and the one within by means of a keen eye, mindfully aware of the moment, so that when the time to write is upon us, we are able to capture the essence of the experience in the words we bring forth.
Yet this can only happen if we are paying attention.
